Speaking to Adom FM on March 16, 2026, about the incident, Hagar explained that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding over a loan repayment, insisting she had already made payment but was unaware of an outstanding balance.

“I took GH₵10,000 and I was made to pay GH₵1,050 every week for three months. I sell kitchen appliances and provisions. I’m expected to pay the money through mobile money, and I did the payment, but I didn’t know they hadn’t received the remaining balance of GH₵300,” she recounted.

She said that she had made payments and believed she had settled her obligations, only to later be confronted by the officers.

“They came to my place on Friday evening and informed me they haven’t received the payment yet. I told them I had already paid the money to them two weeks ago, and since I hadn’t received any calls from them up until they came to my shop, I thought they had received it and I no longer owed them,” she continued.

Hagar further stated that the officers insisted she still owed part of the money and demanded immediate payment.

“The field officers told me I’m still owing, and they were there to collect payment. I told them it was late, so they should go, and I would come to the office to pay the remaining GH₵300 balance,” Hagar added.

She further recounted how the situation escalated after she asked them to leave and return another time.

“They disagreed, and one of them took my phone. I asked him to return it, and he refused. He threw my phone to the ground, spoiling it completely,” she narrated.

Hagar indicated that the confrontation turned physical when she attempted to retrieve her phone.

“I tried approaching him for my phone, and one of them used his body to push me and my baby to the ground. I fell on my waist, injuring myself,” she told Adom FM.

She added that it took the intervention of bystanders to rescue her from the men.
