Details have emerged about how a former student of Achimota Senior High School allegedly used fake screenshots to accuse a Senior Housemaster, Emmanuel Hanson, of sextortion.
Emmanuel Dei-Tumi, lawyer for Hanson, provided insights into the case during an interview on Crime Check Ghana’s YouTube channel on March 24, 2026.
He explained that although he believed in his client’s integrity, he felt compelled to investigate the matter thoroughly.
“I won’t say that I was totally convinced of his innocence because I was there to probe the situation. I knew he had a track record of discipline, credibility, and integrity, but nobody is beyond certain indiscretions. So, I was there to investigate the situation,” he said.
The allegations were made by former student Musah Hafsatu Osmanu but Hanson’s legal team insists the claims were based on fabricated evidence.
According to the lawyer the controversy traces its origins to December 2025 when Hanson had earlier confiscated a mobile phone from the student, Musah Hafsatu Osmanu, in accordance with the school’s rules governing possession of phones on campus.
After completing her WASSCE examinations and leaving the school, Osmanu contacted Hanson on December 28, 2025, requesting the return of the device.
When he informed her that the phone had already been handed over to school authorities in line with established procedures, the conversation escalated.
Hanson later received an audio message in which threats were directed at him by a woman identifying herself as Osmanu’s mother, Daayimatu Abdallah.
Upon returning from the Christmas break, Hanson reported the threatening message to the Achimota Police Station.
It was during the police inquiry that Osmanu and her mother first alleged that Hanson had made sexual advances through WhatsApp and demanded sexual favours in exchange for the phone.
Printed screenshots were presented to the police to support the claim.
Concerned about the authenticity of the messages, Hanson petitioned the Cybercrime Unit of the CID and voluntarily submitted his mobile device for forensic examination.
According to the police investigative report issued on March 11, 2026, the analysis found no WhatsApp communication between Hanson and the MTN number attributed to Osmanu.

The report concluded that the alleged conversations never occurred.
“When the lady was invited, they told her under law cybercrime cannot direct her or command her to bring her phone for forensic examination but they told her that since she has made allegations that borders on forensic issues , they were offering their expertise for her to bring her phone so that when they check and the claim is true they immediately prosecute him because he has even been arrested on the basis of this allegation and the lady said she is not going to give her phone out. So, the accused gave his phone rather for the police to conduct the investigations, “ Emmanuel Dei-Tumi added.
The forensic investigation by the Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service after careful scrutiny has cleared Achimota School Senior Housemaster, Emmanuel Hanson, of allegations that he demanded sexual favours from the former student.
