The Apostolic Church-Ghana has banned the practice of kissing the bride before the altar during wedding ceremonies.

The decision was approved by the church’s Council of Apostles and Prophets and subsequently adopted by delegates at the 6th General Council Meeting.

The meeting was held on March 28, 2026, at the TAC Conference Centre in Accra.

Church authorities indicated that the directive forms part of efforts to uphold doctrinal standards and maintain reverence during solemn marriage rites conducted before the altar.

The new policy is expected to apply to all assemblies of The Apostolic Church-Ghana and will guide officiating ministers during wedding ceremonies.

The development marks a significant shift in traditional wedding practices within the church, with members expected to comply with the directive moving forward.
