John Dramani Mahama is the President of Ghana
President John Dramani Mahama has described the ongoing violence in Israel, the birthplace of Christianity, as a “painful irony.”
He said this during his Easter message to Ghanaians that was delivered at the Black Star Square on April 3, 2026.
Mahama called on world leaders to embrace restraint, dialogue, and respect for human dignity as conflicts continue to escalate across the Middle East.
He emphasised that the Easter season, which celebrates love, forgiveness, and peace, cannot be separated from the suffering unfolding across the world.

“As we celebrate Easter, we cannot ignore the pain in our world. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters in the Middle East, especially those in the Holy Land, the birthplace of our faith, where conflict continues to claim innocent lives and deepen human suffering.
“It is a painful irony that the land where Christ was born and preached love, forgiveness, and peace has become an epicentre of war and violence,” Mahama said.
