The black-and-white image, believed to have been taken during the formative years of Rawlings’ leadership as Head of State, shows the former military ruler, fully-dressed in uniform, in the company of the revered Asante monarch, and surrounded by security personnel and others believed to be other high-ranking officials.
The image also captured a young, graceful traditional dancer, with short-cut hair and cloth wrapped around her body, as she gestured with her hands during a captivating cultural performance.
Her performance appeared to have captivated Jerry John Rawlings, who looked on attentively, seemingly engrossed in every detail, while offering a gentle smile.
The other officials present could also be seen watching the performance keenly.
The image also captured another culturally rich setting, with the then Asantehene adorned in traditional kente cloth.
