Officials say the service received a distress call at approximately 6:55 a.m., prompting the immediate dispatch of a rescue team to the scene.

The eight-member team, led by Assistant Station Officer Emmanuel Agyekum, arrived to find a devastating collision between a Kia Rhino truck transporting poultry feed and a Sprinter bus carrying passengers.

According to the GNFS, four victims who were trapped in the wreckage were extricated but were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

Fourteen other victims who sustained varying degrees of injuries were rescued and transported to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
