President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has criticised Attorney General Dominic Ayine over his handling of a legal matter involving the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Starr 103.5 FM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, Cudjoe alleged that the Attorney General (AG) is prioritising a legal position against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) instead of focusing on efforts to combat corruption.

According to him, a case challenging the existence of the OSP had already been filed in court by a private lawyer, but the Attorney General chose to file a defence in support of that position.

“Instead of fighting corruption, my good friend Ayine is latching onto something that has been filed in court by some lawyer, and because Ayine also loves the idea of making sure the OSP doesn’t exist, he goes ahead to file a defence,” he said.

Cudjoe questioned the move, arguing that it contradicts the broader national objective of tackling corruption and recovering public funds.

“He never really supported the idea… he doesn’t like it… he doesn’t want the office to exist. That’s the way I interpret it,” he added.

“We are fighting corruption, you are looking to recover monies… Instead of encouraging the person who can help you actually fight the person,” he stated, adding that he’s told AG “that please don’t pursue this case, let the guy continue, don’t go and defend it”.

Cudjoe also suggested that Ayine has long held reservations about the existence of the OSP, claiming the Attorney General has been “theoretically opposed” to the office.
