Hassan Tampuli is the Member of Parliament for Gushegu
The Member of Parliament for Gushegu and Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, Hassan Tampuli, has stated that there are no restrictions on the movements of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in relation to his ongoing legal matters.
Speaking on NewsFile on April 11, 2026, Tampuli stressed that claims suggesting otherwise are inaccurate and not supported by court records.
According to him, “There’s no electronic monitoring device on him, there’s no restriction on his movements anywhere, and there’s no requirement for him to report to any immigration officer.”
He explained that the only condition imposed by the court in the immigration-related case is that Ofori-Atta must notify the court of any change in his residential address.

Tampuli further indicated that although the presiding judge is not handling any extradition proceedings, the judge had reviewed aspects of the extradition documents and expressed concerns about their completeness.
“Even though he is not the extradition judge, he has looked at the materials and is not surprised that the process is not progressing,” Tampuli claimed, while acknowledging that this was not an official court report.
He also raised concerns about due process, arguing that Ofori-Atta has not yet been formally served with charges.
“So far, he has not been served with any charges. Technically, he has not been charged,” he said, emphasising the need to balance accountability with adherence to legal procedures.
Hassan Tampuli referenced the case of Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, noting that both cases involve individuals believed to be in the United States, and urged authorities to pursue them with equal seriousness.
He cautioned against creating the impression of political persecution, insisting that legal processes must remain fair and consistent.
