The Ghana Police Service, on April 13, 2026, announced the arrest of Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, Head Pastor of Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, and his accomplice, who attempted to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

It appears the five-month-old baby would have been buried alive but for the intervention of the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu.

Nana Yaw Badu, in an interview with ChannelOne TV, narrated how he chanced upon the pastor and his accomplice moments before they buried the body alive.

He said that he noticed the boy was alive after the man holding him handed him over to the pastor to be placed into the pit.

“I came to meet the three men here, and Donkor (the pastor) was standing beside a pit they had dug, and I asked what they were doing there. And they told me that their child had died and they were there to bury him. And I said okay.

“But when the man with the child was handing him over for him to be placed in the pit, I noticed he was breathing, and I asked them, ‘Didn’t you say the child was dead, but he is breathing. What shows that the child is dead?’ The man put the child on the floor and asked me to check if the child was alive,” the Chief Linguist narrated.

He added, “So, I removed the cloth that had been used to cover the child, and it was alive. You could see its hands shaking, which meant cloth was being used to suffocate it. So, when I realised it was still alive, I stopped them from burying it,” he said.

Nana Yaw Badu said that the pastor and his accomplice claimed that they got the approval of the chief to bury the five-month-old baby.

He said he led them to the chief's palace, which eventually led to their arrest.
