Berekum Chelsea player, Dominic Frimpong, tragically lost his life during a robbery attack while the team was returning from their Ghana Premier League game against Samartex on April 12, 2026.

The incident occurred at Ahyiresu on the Bibiani-Goaso road following their Matchday 29 clash against FC Samartex in Samreboi, where Berekum Chelsea had suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.

According to reports, the robbers blocked the road, forcing the team bus to stop before launching the attack. Attempts by the driver to reverse away from the scene proved unsuccessful as the assailants advanced.

The situation quickly escalated, with gunshots reportedly fired. Frimpong sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Family Background

Frimpong hailed from Assin Dansame in the Central Region but was born in Accra on August 26, 2005.

His mother, Lucy, expressed deep grief, describing her son as the backbone of the family. He was the firstborn of four children.

Early Football Career

Frimpong began his professional career with Tudu Mighty Jets during the 2023/2024 season, where he impressed with his performances.

His displays earned him a move to Attram De Visser the following season. During the 2024/2025 FA Cup campaign, the 20-year-old emerged as the club’s best player, leading them to the semi-finals and scoring four goals in the process.

Ghana Premier League Career

Frimpong’s strong performances attracted interest from Bono Ahafo-based Aduana Stars during the 2025/2026 season.

However, as a young player, he struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting eleven, raising concerns about his development.

Aduana management eventually agreed to loan him to their neighboring club, Berekum Chelsea, to gain more playing time.

Performance Statistics

The striker made 14 appearances in the Ghana Premier League, 11 for Berekum Chelsea and 3 for Aduana Stars.

Despite limited minutes, he scored two goals for Berekum Chelsea against Bibiani Gold Stars and Karela United. His final game was against Samartex, where he played 82 minutes before his tragic death in the attack.

Frimpong had also represented Ghana at the U-17 level and was reportedly under consideration for selection to the U-20 team.
