Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo
Ghanaian winger, Antoine Semenyo has revealed that he was subjected to racial abuse on social media following a recent game.
Semenyo featured in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on April 12, 2026.
After the match, the Black Stars forward shared an image on his Instagram page, expressing appreciation for the support shown by the club.

However, one user responded with an abusive message, questioning his performance. The individual, whose identity was not revealed, suggested that Semenyo would only improve if is benched for several games.
“By the time you sit on the bench for about 15 games, you will know how to play football, you black monkey,” the message read, as shared by Semenyo.
The winger reacted by captioning the post, “It’s started again,” lamenting the persistence of racial abuse in football.
Semenyo has settled well at Manchester City, having helped the club win the Carabao Cup and progress in the FA Cup.
City have also mounted significant pressure on Arsenal in the Premier League title race, closing the gap at the top of the table to six points with a game in hand.
Semenyo’s performances will be crucial to their title challenge, given his contributions both defensively and offensively.
