A confidant of former GIHOC CEO Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Richie Oscar, has reacted to reports of a raid by officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Jumah’s residence.

A video shared by TV3 Ghana on April 14, 2026, following the incident, showed parts of the house in disarray, with rooms ransacked and door locks appearing damaged.

A cabinet believed to house CCTV equipment was also seen with wires hanging, some of them cut.

Speaking on the incident, Oscar, who is also a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asokwa Constituency, described the extent of damage caused during the operation.

“They started from the door, which was totally damaged by them. It’s very scary for them to have done this to an elder’s house,” he said.

He stated that the officers searched through all parts of the house and allegedly took away key items.

“They ransacked all the rooms and took all CCTVs, his documents, and ransacked his cabinets, leaving all items on the floor,” he added.

According to him, several keys found in the house were also allegedly taken by the officers.

“There were lots of keys, and the officers took some away. They have damaged all the rooms,” he claimed.

He further alleged that force was used to gain access to some areas in the house.

“One of the officers used his leg to break down one of the doors, so you can see the footprint on it. They opened and accessed all the rooms in the house,” he stated.

Background

Officials from the Economic and Organised Crime Office reportedly raided the residence of Jumah, a former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.

The incident is said to have occurred at his home in Atonsu in the Ashanti Region.

According to Paul Yandoh, the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Director of Communications, EOCO operatives carried out the operation in Jumah’s absence.

“They arrived when Kofi Jumah was not at home, broke into his room and took away some of his belongings,” Yandoh alleged.

Jumah, a former appointee under the NPP administration, served as Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, a state-owned enterprise, for several years.

His tenure has since come under scrutiny as part of broader government efforts to investigate alleged financial irregularities and procurement breaches in state-owned enterprises.
