The Ghana Scholarships Secretariat has announced that the government has released first-quarter funds to clear outstanding scholarship arrears for Ghanaian students studying in the United Kingdom and other countries.

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 16, 2026, and reported by adomonline.com, the Secretariat said the move forms part of ongoing efforts to address delays in the payment of stipends and tuition fees.

The statement, signed by the Director-General of the Secretariat, Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, acknowledged the concerns raised by sponsored students and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the delays.

“Government remains fully committed to the welfare of Ghanaian students abroad,” the statement said.

It added that the Secretariat is working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure the timely processing of payments and to minimise future delays.

Beneficiaries were, however, urged to remain calm and continue with their academic activities while efforts are made to settle all outstanding obligations.
