Edmond Boateng is the consul of Luxembourg to Ghana
The Honorary Consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Ghana, Edmond Boateng, has called for a more strategic and results-driven approach to economic diplomacy to enhance Ghana’s global investment appeal.
According to him, Ghana must deliberately align its diplomatic engagements with its economic priorities to ensure that international relations yield tangible benefits such as increased investment inflows, improved access to trade finance, and stronger institutional partnerships.
Boateng made these remarks during a high-level engagement with key stakeholders within Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem, one of Europe’s leading international financial centres.
He noted that Ghana’s political stability, credible institutions, and vibrant private sector place the country in a strong position as a gateway to West Africa. However, he stressed that these advantages must be effectively leveraged through coordinated engagements with global financial hubs, development institutions, and private capital markets.
“Economic diplomacy must serve as a bridge between governments and businesses, facilitating access to capital, promoting cross-border partnerships, and creating credible platforms for investment,” he stated.
Boateng further emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between government, the private sector, and Ghana’s diplomatic missions abroad to ensure a unified and impactful national economic strategy.
He also urged Ghana to position itself confidently as a value-adding partner in the global economy by offering innovation, skilled human capital, and access to a growing regional market.
According to him, this approach is critical in reshaping Africa’s engagement with international partners and securing mutually beneficial outcomes.
The event was attended by the Deputy Head of Mission at the Ghana Embassy in Brussels, Dr. Innocent Badasu; the Honorary Consul of Luxembourg to Tunisia, Yeboah Kyeremeh; Trade Attaché at the Ghana Mission in Brussels, Kwaku Boahen; the Head of Information and Public Affairs at the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the European Union, as well as business executives and stakeholders from the financial and investment community.
Boateng reaffirmed the commitment of the Honorary Consular Corps to advancing Ghana’s economic interests by leveraging its global networks to strengthen international cooperation and facilitate strategic partnerships.
He added that as global investors continue to seek stable and high-potential markets, Ghana’s focus on structured economic diplomacy will play a key role in enhancing its position as an attractive investment destination in Africa.
