The exercise forms part of broader efforts by the power distributor to strengthen infrastructure
The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has inspected ongoing works by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to replace and upgrade transformers aimed at improving power supply reliability in the Greater Accra Region.
During a visit to ECG’s Nungua District Office, the minister observed the installation of new transformers expected to enhance electricity distribution and reduce outages in the area.
The exercise forms part of broader efforts by the power distributor to strengthen infrastructure, ensure stable electricity supply to consumers, and support business operations.
Dr Jinapor commended ECG for the intervention and stressed the need for timely maintenance of power infrastructure to meet the growing electricity demand in the region.
He noted that reliable power supply remains critical to economic growth and household productivity.
Officials of ECG said the transformer replacement programme is being carried out in phases across selected communities in Greater Accra, with plans to extend similar upgrades to other parts of the country.
