Herbert Mensah speaks on close brush with death

President of Rugby Africa, Herbert Mensah, has shared a terrifying moment when he almost died.

According to him, in 2018, he faced a life-threatening situation where he was breathless and on the verge of passing away.

He explained that when he realised the situation was intensifying and getting out of hand, he prayed to God to save him for the sake of his children.

The former Asante Kotoko board chairman disclosed that he asked for five more years to enable him to take care of his children to a certain stage before departing this world.

Mensah indicated that the faith he exercised in prayer paid off, as he was healed and has lived until now, almost eight years later, exceeding the time he had requested.

“In 2018, I nearly passed, but I asked for an extra five years because my daughters needed me. God adds life because others need us!” he wrote on Facebook on April 19, 2026.

Herbert Mensah has since risen to become one of the most prominent personalities in Ghana, having held various positions both locally and internationally within the sporting fraternity.
