One of the most expensive cemeteries in Ghana is located in Chiraa, a town in the Bono Region.

Known as an ‘estate for the dead,’ the cemetery has gained wide recognition.

Some of the structures at the cemetery are modernised apartments.

For a first-time visitor, it would be hard to believe the cemetery is meant for the dead. A media tour by Oheneba Media revealed several luxurious buildings within its grounds.

Kofi Tawiah, a cemetery worker, said, “All we do here is work at the cemetery. Everyone is doing what they want to do for their parents because of what they did for them.”

He explained that one of the storey buildings had originally been planned by its owner for his late mother while she was alive.

However, she passed away before its completion, so he chose to build it at the cemetery in her honour.
