Arsenal players were saddened after losing to Manchester City
Football fans poured out anger, uproar, and frustration on social media after Arsenal lost to Manchester City in a decisive Premier League game on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Heading into the match, the Gunners had stumbled in recent fixtures and were expected to secure at least a draw to maintain their lead. Instead, they suffered defeat.
The Citizens started strongly, with Ryan Cherki scoring a brilliant opener. Just two minutes later, Kai Havertz capitalized on a Gianluigi Donnarumma error to level the score at 1-1.
Man City beat Arsenal to cut lead to three points
Arsenal struggled to match their opponents and were unlucky with several chances, hitting the post and missing narrowly through efforts from Eberechi Eze and Havertz.
Prolific striker Erling Haaland rose to the occasion, scoring the winner to move Manchester City to 67 points with a game in hand, while Arsenal remained on 70 points.
Many football fans took to social media to criticise Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach, claiming his recent defensive style has cost the team.
Some supporters fumed that Arsenal are once again on the brink of “bottling” the Premier League title, as they have in the past three seasons, falling apart in the latter stages when it matters most.
Others called for Arteta to be sacked if Manchester City pip them to the title, arguing that he has proven that he is capable of building a team but is not able to win trophies.

You already bottled the league. Good for you.

I've seen countless United players win titles, Chelsea, City, even Liverpool. For Arsenal to turn up for a game like that and not have even 5 good individual performances is shocking. Arteta will take the blame, but their players don't have it either

Arteta has proven to the world that he's still a baby coach. You can not be so silly in a competitive league.
