CFAO Mobility Ghana PLC, a major player in Ghana’s automotive sector, has responded to reports of the impoundment of several of its vehicles at the Tema Harbour, distancing itself from any wrongdoing while pledging full cooperation with investigations.

The issue emerged after the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) indicated that a number of imported vehicles linked to the company were involved in alleged procedural irregularities.

Preliminary findings suggest that a third-party clearing agent working on behalf of CFAO may have used “unauthorised methods” during the clearance process, raising concerns among regulators.

In a statement, the company said it remains committed to ethical business practices and is collaborating with relevant authorities to establish the facts.

CFAO stressed that compliance is central to its operations, adding that no shortcuts are permitted within its logistics and import processes.

“We take this matter seriously and will fully cooperate with the DVLA and all relevant authorities to establish the facts and ensure clarity. CFAO Mobility Ghana does not condone, support, or engage in any form of fraudulent or non-compliant activity. Our internal systems, processes, and partnerships are structured to uphold integrity at every stage of our operations,” the statement said.

At the centre of the investigation is the external agent involved in handling the clearance procedures.

Although CFAO manages most of its import activities, it occasionally relies on third-party service providers due to the complexity of port operations.

According to the DVLA’s initial assessment, the vehicles themselves are legitimate imports, but the documentation or clearance process used by the intermediary may not have complied with regulatory requirements.

The company pointed to its long-standing record of transparency and adherence to Ghana’s import and registration rules, adding that its internal controls are designed to identify such issues early.

It also noted that it is reviewing its engagement with external partners to prevent similar incidents in the future.

CFAO Mobility Ghana further assured customers, partners, and regulators of its full cooperation throughout the ongoing investigation, reiterating its commitment to maintaining public trust.
