Former Ghanaian defender, Samuel Osei Kuffuor has admonished Ghanaians to stop the criticisms and rally behind newly appointed Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz.

He explained that since the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has entrusted Queiroz with the responsibility of leading the team, public support will help him settle into the role more easily and allow the team to flourish.

Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, Kuffuor stated that the criticisms are irrelevant and will not influence any decision to sack Queiroz, who will lead the team to the World Cup regardless.

“So for me, I think whether we like it or not, we have already signed him. So we must give him the necessary support. Criticism here and there will not help. We can criticize whatever we want to criticize, but whether we like it or not, he is going to sit on the bench. So my advice to every Ghanaian is to support him,” he said.

The former Bayern Munich defender also raised concerns about the injury crisis in the Black Stars, urging Queiroz to use his experience to bring the best out of the available players.

“Like I said before, with the quality we have today, we’ve lost Kudus, probably he’s not going to play at the World Cup. We’ve lost Salisu, who is not going to play. Nuamah is not there. I think now he’s coming back, but how long will he have to prepare himself for a major tournament?

"So for me, I think the players we know can do better should be given confidence. And I believe the coach knows better than we do in terms of talking to the players and guiding them to perform,” he added
