Antoine Semenyo and Dean Huijsen were teammates at Bournemouth
Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo has disclosed that Spanish defender Dean Huijsen cautioned him ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
According to Semenyo, his former Bournemouth teammate sent him a message warning that he would deal with him two days before the game.
The Manchester City attacker responded by acknowledging that playing for Real Madrid is a big achievement, but reminded Huijsen to calm down since the game would be decided on the pitch.
Man City beat Arsenal to cut lead to three points
“Facing Huijsen? He was texting me the night before or two nights before, saying ‘I’m gonna kick the sh*t out of you.’ I was just like, calm down buddy. We get it, you’re at Real Madrid, but calm down,” Semenyo said in an interview with It’s All Out Footy aired on YouTube.
After two legs, Los Blancos emerged victorious with a 5-1 aggregate score to progress to the quarter-finals, where they eventually lost to Bayern Munich.
Semenyo further revealed that Huijsen had long vowed to join Real Madrid upon signing for Bournemouth, making the move a dream come true for his friend.
“When Dean Huijsen signed for Bournemouth, he said, ‘I’m going to sign for Real Madrid next year.’ Then he did sign for Real Madrid the following summer, and I was like, fair enough…” he added.
