According to a post shared on the official X page of the Office of the Special Prosecutor on April 22, 2026, the adjournment followed an objection raised by defence counsel in court.
“Today in court, counsel for Adjenim Boateng Adjei raised an objection, citing a High Court ruling which held that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) does not have prosecutorial powers,” the statement said.

It noted that the court adjourned proceedings to June 17, 2026, pending the determination of the OSP’s application for a stay of execution pending appeal.
Adjei is standing trial on eight charges, including using public office for profit and influencing procurement processes to secure an unfair advantage.
The charges stem from allegations that he abused his office between March 2017 and August 2019 by manipulating the award of public contracts for personal gain.
