Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Yussif Chibsah
Former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars midfielder, Yussif Chibsah has called for a structured quota system to ensure Ghana Premier League players are consistently included in the national team.
According to him, the current approach of overlooking home-based players limits their development and reduces the overall competitiveness of the domestic league.
Speaking in an interview with Citi TV, Chibsah stressed that Ghana must deliberately create opportunities for GPL players to prove themselves at the highest level.
“We cannot continue to ignore Ghana Premier League players. There must be a quota system to ensure they are represented in the Black Stars.”
“It’s about giving them opportunities to prove themselves. If you don’t provide the platform, how can we assess them at the highest level? We need to create a pathway to improve both the players and our local league,” Yussif Chibsah stated.
