Shoes and sand found in a car as ex-NFL player remains missing since 2025

Nearly nine months after Sam Beal vanished, the mystery surrounding the former New York Giants defensive back remains unresolved, with no confirmed sightings or answers.

Beal, now 29, was last seen on July 12, 2025, when he dropped off his girlfriend at a relative’s home and took her car, reportedly heading to work at an Amazon facility in Michigan.

He never arrived. Within 24 hours, he had travelled nearly 1,450 kilometres to Virginia Beach, an area with no known ties to him.

The following day, he spoke with his girlfriend, assuring her he was on his way back. That call would be the last confirmed contact.

Days later, the borrowed vehicle was found abandoned near the beach. Inside were troubling clues: his flip-flops, socks, a parking ticket, a receipt for sparkling wine, and sand scattered across the footwells, suggesting he had been at the shoreline shortly before disappearing.

In January 2026, his sister, Essence Zhane, made a public plea as the search stretched into months.

“Tomorrow makes it seven months since we’ve last heard from or seen my brother. We’ve done everything we could and at this point we’re in desperate need of support. I’m a Big sister and I need my brother to know that We Love You and miss you,” she wrote.

Her message drew national attention, reigniting interest in a case that has baffled both family and investigators.

Beal’s professional career was brief, playing just nine games in the NFL before injuries and setbacks stalled his progress.

In the years that followed, he reportedly faced legal and personal challenges, including a prison stint in early 2025.

Despite extensive searches by family members across hospitals, morgues, and police records, no breakthrough has emerged.

For now, the timeline ends the same way: a phone call, an abandoned car, and a disappearance that remains unexplained.
