The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has issued a two-month ultimatum to Delovely Construction Ltd to speed work on the Bediako Junction-Sefwi Adabokrom road project in the Western North Region.

The directive follows concerns over significant delays, with progress reportedly falling far below expectations.

Addressing the media during a visit to the project site on April 27, 2026, he criticised the slow pace of work.

According to him, the contractor should have achieved close to 20 percent completion by now, but less than two percent of the work has been done, despite taking possession of the site about five months ago.

“We are giving this contractor two months to claw back the time up to over 20 percent or consider this project terminated. We are not going to discuss this any further.

“Two months is what you have to bring the project up to the scope, or we are not even going to talk to you... you will just realise that another person is on site. So, that is all we have to say here", he remarked.

Kwame Agbodza stressed the strategic importance of the road, describing it as a critical corridor that supports agriculture and the livelihoods of communities along the route.

“People here depend on this road. The president's vision is to make this road better, to lift the people out of poverty, to give meaning to their activities here", he stated.

The Minister warned that the contractor must bring progress to at least 20 percent within two months or risk termination of the contract.

“We shouldn’t be talking about two percent. We should be approaching 20 percent or more by now. Some contractors would have done 40 to 50 percent within this period,” he added.

He further cautioned that failure to meet the target would result in the contract being reassigned without further discussions.

Despite the setback, he assured residents that the government remains committed to completing the project by November 30, 2027.

The 55 kilometre project is part of the government's Big Push Infrastructure Programme.
