Dr Bernard Okoe Boye is a former Minister of Health
Former Health Minister Dr Bernard Okoe Boye has officially announced his candidacy for the Greater Accra Regional Chair of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In his declaration, he vowed to “rebuild, restore, and deliver” the region ahead of the 2028 elections.
During a speech to party supporters, Dr Okoe Boye emphasised that he is not merely launching a campaign but is accepting the responsibility to lead with purpose.
He described Greater Accra Region as the “heartbeat of our electoral fortunes,” a critical battleground that will influence national outcomes.
He made these remarks during an NPP gathering, which was captured by ChannelOne TV on April 28, 2026.
“To win the 2028 elections and ensure Dr Bawumia becomes president, Accra must be revitalised,” he asserted.
Presenting himself as a dedicated and qualified servant of the party, he referenced his record of service, governance experience, and strong grassroots connections.
In a clear demonstration of readiness, he stated that he did not arrive “in a jacket or a three-piece suit” but instead came prepared for a hard-to-fight battle, which he aims to win in December 2028.
Dr Okoe Boye characterised himself as a bridge between experience and future aspirations.
He indicated that with his background as a medical professional, he understands care and precision, as well as the commitment to public service.
He added that his vision for the region is anchored on rebuilding structures, energising the base, empowering members, and securing a decisive electoral victory for the NPP in 2028.
He believes his youthful energy allows him to reconnect the party with a dynamic younger electorate while resonating with both loyal members and undecided voters.
He also emphasised his ability to mobilise resources and strategically navigate the political landscape of Greater Accra.
Dr Okoe Boye stressed the importance of unity, portraying himself as a unifier ready to bridge divides and visit every delegate's home, regardless of their support in the flagbearer race.
“We need every strength; we need everybody. Victory starts from within,” he stated.
“Our approach will not be based on emotions but will utilise polling data to guide our actions. We will map our strongholds, identify swing areas, and implement targeted interventions,” he added.
He stressed that Accra is home to all tribes, not just the Ga community, and he pledged an inclusive approach if elected.
Dr Okoe Boye concluded by reiterating that all his efforts are directed toward one goal: working assiduously to help Dr Bawumia win power in 2028.
