The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspected robbery gang leader and several alleged accomplices in connection with a series of robbery attacks at Dadease, Yawnkruma and in other parts of the Western Region.

According to the police, “The operation followed several days of surveillance and intelligence gathering by a team at Kumawu. On April 25, 2026, officers arrested the alleged gang leader, Kofi Adu, at Onwe, a suburb of Ejisu, after tracking him through a mobile money number linked to one of his reported victims, Nana Konadu of Dadease.”

Police said preliminary interrogation of the suspect led to confessions and the identification of five alleged accomplices: Owusu Patrick, also known as Ike, Obeng Francis, alias Amani, Abdul Karim Nurudeen, alias Kusheshe, Akwasi Agyei, alias Show Boy and Edem.

Following the disclosure, officers launched follow-up operations and arrested four of the named suspects at various hideouts.

However, one suspect, Edem, who is believed to be in possession of a firearm, remains at large.

The suspects were later handed over to the Effiduase Police Station together with exhibits retrieved during the operation.

These included a Toshiba laptop, eight mobile phones, a vehicle number plate bearing registration number GN 886-19, black substances suspected to be charms, as well as a Ghana Card and an insurance card.

Police further stated that the suspects led investigators to Nana Serwaa, who was identified as a victim of a robbery attack at Yawnkruma, a suburb of Juaben in the Ashanti Region.

She reportedly confirmed that she was robbed of GH¢8,800 and had earlier reported the matter to the Maap3 Police Station.

She also alleged that she and her family were subjected to inhumane treatments during the attack, which she said led to complications resulting in the loss of a three-month pregnancy.

The suspects also led officers to Nana Konadu at Dadease, who reportedly confirmed that the gang robbed her of GH¢55,000 after damaging properties in her house.

She said the case had been reported to the Dadease Police Station in November 2025 but no update had been received since then.
