Former Black Stars defender, Daniel Opare has said that he hopes Kudus Mohammed recovers in time to feature for the national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He stated that the experience and skill set of the Tottenham Hotspur attacker would enhance the team’s quality and improve their performance at the tournament.

The former FC Porto defender indicated that the Black Stars could cause an upset at the Mundial, given the abundance of talent within the squad.

“Football is about those who can play, but I think with Kudus in there, he will add more value to the team. Fingers crossed, we pray that he recovers on time so that he can make the World Cup.

It’s going to be difficult, but trust me, in football anything can happen. I really believe in these boys. The talent is undeniable. They can go out there and make things happen. They can surprise people who underestimate them,” he said in an interview with Joy Sports.

Opare urged the players to adopt a winning mentality and build cohesion on and off the pitch to facilitate their progression and impactful performance.

“Sometimes it takes an individual to change the whole game. If they keep that mentality, ‘we are here to play, we are here to win, we are here to build ourselves for the future,’ with that one spirit, I think they are capable of anything. For me, my expectation is for them to get out of the group stage. If we are able to do that, we have a good chance to win one or two more matches,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kudus is undergoing recovery from a hamstring injury and his availability for the World Cup remains unknown.
