Unfortunately, there's no such thing as maximum punishment when it comes to scamming crimes. The so-called maximum punishment usually isn't harsh enough to deter Nigerian or Ghana scammers. The punishment often muted out to convicted scammers is almost a slap on the wrist, and that accounts for why these scams just keep taking place, and on a large scale too. The scammers will rather risk spending a few years in prison, then run back to Nigeria or other countries to enjoy their loot, loot that the USA authorities can't trace since that loot has been laundered beyond recognition. And the restitution that courts impose on the scammers is a joke since those scammers hardly pay the restitution imposed on them.
