A middle-aged man with a disability has been arrested by concerned residents at North Legon for allegedly tying his six-year-old stepson to a quad bike and dragging him on the ground, leaving the child with severe injuries.

In a video that has gone viral on social media on May 4, 2026, the suspect was seen being questioned for his rationale behind committing such an act on the child.

According to him, his actions were not intentional, adding that he reacted after being informed that the child had once again entered a neighbor's house to swim in a pool.

He explained that his son had also repeatedly been involved in picking scrap items despite earlier warnings.

“What I did wasn’t deliberate. I was in the room when I was called that the child had gone to someone’s house to swim in their pool. It has gone on for a while now. He goes into people’s houses to pick up scraps. I warned him against such acts because it would land us in trouble,” he said.

Disturbing images circulating show injuries on the boy’s back and buttocks, with his skin peeled off following the incident.

Residents who witnessed the incident expressed anger over the man’s actions and intervened before handing him over to the police.

Meanwhile, the child is receiving medical attention.
