Quality Insurance Company (QIC) PLC has marked its 30th anniversary, highlighting its growth, innovation, and commitment to youth development since its establishment in 2006.
Speaking at the event held at Christ the King on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Head of Operations, Cecil Ribeiro, said the celebration was aimed at bringing the company’s achievements to the attention of the public.
“The company was established in 2006 as a composite insurance company, and 30 years down the line, we have achieved a lot. We think we have to bring these achievements to the attention of the public and also celebrate our successes,” he stated.
He noted that the company has grown significantly over the years, expanding beyond its initial structure.
“Remember, we started as a composite company. Now this company has three other companies beneath it. We have Quality Life, Quality Financial Trust, and we are in the process of forming another,” he said.
Ribeiro indicated that the company remains focused on creating opportunities for young people, stressing that its workforce reflects that vision.

“If you look at our staff strength, you will realise that the average age in Quality Insurance is about 32 or 33. We recruit directly from PAX Romana, and the whole idea is to grow the youth,” he explained.
He added that the company is optimistic about its future, stating that “there’s a big opportunity for growth, and I see a bright future for the company.”
Ribeiro further said the company has introduced unique products within Ghana’s insurance industry.
“Quality Insurance Company is the only insurance company in Ghana that provides an alternative vehicle for women who are involved in accidents. If you are a woman insured with us and you are involved in an accident, you do not have to go and find another vehicle; we will provide you with an alternative vehicle to use,” he said.
He further noted that the company’s “Go Girl” insurance product has received industry recognition.
“In the last three years, on two occasions, Quality Insurance has won Insurance Product of the Year consecutively with the ‘Go Girl’ insurance product,” he added.
He also noted the company’s steady growth over the past decades, stating that it used to write GH¢500,000 in premiums in the past, but that figure has significantly increased over the years.
“In the last 30 years, this company has grown from writing about GH¢500,000 or GH¢1 million to currently writing in excess of GH¢130 million,” he disclosed.
He emphasised that the company consistently posts underwriting profits, unlike many industry players.
“Underwriting profit is not something that other insurance companies often post in Ghana. Most profits are from investments, but for us, it means that from the actual process of doing insurance business, we are making money,” he said.
Ribeiro also highlighted the company’s social impact, noting that its dividends support institutions across the country.
“Our dividends go straight to support Catholic hospitals and Catholic schools all over the country. These are achievements we are proud of as a company,” he said.
