The Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) has officially announced that the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) will host the 9th edition of the Mini GUSA Games.
The games are scheduled to take place from May 5 to 15, 2026, under the theme “Integrating University Sports with Academic Professionalism.”
In a statement released on May 4, 2026, it was indicated that this year’s event will feature participation from fourteen public universities and include athletics, 3x3 basketball, football, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, and badminton.

The event is expected to serve as a platform for identifying talents who can represent Ghana in various sporting disciplines in the future.
“The Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) is pleased to announce that the 9th Mini GUSA Games will be hosted by the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), from May 5 to 15, 2026, under the theme: ‘Integrating University Sports with Academic Professionalism."
"The Mini GUSA Games continue to serve as a vital platform for nurturing talent to represent Ghana at regional and international levels, while also promoting unity, healthy lifestyles, active youth engagement, and strengthening inter-university relations,” the statement read.
The President of GUSA, Ibrahim Shaibu Tanko, emphasised that the games serve as a bedrock for sports development in the country.
“The Mini GUSA Games remain a cornerstone of university sports development in Ghana. They showcase the athletic potential of our students and reinforce the values of discipline, teamwork, and academic excellence that are essential for national progress,” he noted.
