The Chief Executive Officer of Faith Catering Services, Matilda Pipio, has identified inadequate storage facilities as a major challenge affecting the growth of the guinea fowl industry in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Farida Gebril on May 1, 2026, during the Guinea Fowl Bazaar, she noted that although the demand for guinea fowl is high, the lack of proper storage systems limits production and distribution.

“We have some challenges, but one of them is storage. As the years go by, I would appeal to stakeholders to help because the guinea fowl bird is loved by all,” she said.

According to her, improving storage infrastructure will encourage farmers to increase production and reduce reliance on other meat options.

“If the farmers can produce more and there’s storage for it, no one would go in for chicken. Guinea fowl tastes nice and it’s healthier, so why will we have healthy meat and we go for something else?” she questioned.

Matilda Pipio further explained that the absence of storage facilities affects not only local supply but also export potential.

“Because there are no storage facilities for us to be able to store it well and even export, it becomes a challenge. It means, right from the farm, we sell to the consumer,” she shared.

She stressed that with the right investment in storage, the industry could expand beyond local markets and create employment opportunities for the youth.

“If we’re able to get a good storage facility, we can export them too, which would also generate income for the youth,” she added.
