The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has cautioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government against over-analysing its proposed 24-Hour Economy policy, urging leaders to focus on practical implementation instead.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on May 6, 2026, he warned that the initiative risks being reduced to what he described as ‘intellectual masturbation’ if authorities fail to act decisively.

According to him, the concept is not theoretical but requires immediate, tangible steps using existing state structures.

“It should not, again, I’m going to use a word, please forgive me if it’s inappropriate… it should not be reduced to intellectual masturbation. It’s a practical thing,” Pratt stressed.

He maintained that Ghana already has the ministries, departments and agencies capable of running round-the-clock operations, insisting that government must avoid delays caused by excessive planning and bureaucratic processes.

Pratt argued that a results-driven approach, rather than prolonged discussions, would be key to building public confidence in the policy and demonstrating its impact on employment and productivity.
