Richard Akpokavie is the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee
President of the Commonwealth Games Association Ghana, Richard Akpokavie has praised sports minister Kofi Adams for his commitment and consistent support for sporting activities across the country.
Speaking ahead of Ghana’s participation in the the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Akpokavie, who is also the president of the Ghana Olympic Committee said the Sports and Recreation Minister has distinguished himself from many of his predecessors through his active presence at sporting events.
“One thing that stands out with the Honourable Minister of Sports and Recreation is that every event he is invited to, he is there,” he said.
Akpokavie noted that despite witnessing the tenures of several sports ministers over the years, Kofi Adams’ dedication and support for athletes and sporting federations has been exceptional.
“I have seen several Sports Ministers in my lifetime, and I would like to thank him for the support he continues to offer all of us,” he added.
Richard Akpokavie also boldy stated that team Ghana will not only return home with medals but also attract investment opportunities for the country after the Games in Glasgow.
“We pray that when we get to Glasgow, from July 22 when the opening ceremony takes place to August 2 when we close, we will come home with medals. I didn’t say medal, I said medals. And of course, also come home with new investments and new opportunities for our country,” Akpokavie stated.
