Agri-entrepreneurship has been touted as a viable and profitable career pathway for young Ghanaians.

This is the aim of the Ghana Youth Agriculture Summit (GYAS), which is set to be launched in the Bono Region on May 22, 2026.

The summit, a national youth-focused agricultural initiative, is expected to bring together more than 2,000 young people from across the Bono Region, alongside agribusiness professionals, policymakers, development partners, educators, and industry stakeholders.

7 million agribusiness actors demand affordable connectivity

The Founder and Lead Convener of GYAS, as well as a member of the World Agricultural Forum Global Council, Evans Kyere-Mensah, said the summit was conceived as a strategic intervention to address youth unemployment and graduate underemployment.

According to him, this will be achieved by harnessing the entrepreneurial energy of young people within the agricultural value chain.

He noted that the summit will focus on promoting agriculture as an attractive career option, equipping participants with practical agribusiness knowledge, and encouraging innovation and value addition in the sector.

Participants who enrol after the event will also gain access to structured capacity-building programmes covering agribusiness development, financial literacy, climate-smart agriculture, and market access.

The Bono edition marks the beginning of a broader national rollout strategy aimed at taking the summit to all 16 regions of Ghana within a year, ensuring equitable access to agricultural opportunities for young people nationwide.
