Good Evening Ghana host, Paul Adom-Otchere
Paul Adom-Otchere, host of Good Evening Ghana, is advocating greater Ghanaian involvement in the mining sector.
He said the country should consider increasing local control of key mining assets, especially after decades of foreign operation.
According to him, the presence of mining training institutions in mining communities strengthens the case for local participation.
“There is a school of mines in Tarkwa. Why can’t it take over the nearby mine?” he asked.
He added that Ghanaian institutions and professionals are capable of managing such operations.
“We can structure it so that Ghanaian firms and institutions take part. It is possible,” he said.
Adom-Otchere argued that stronger local participation in the mining industry would help retain more value within the Ghanaian economy.
