26-year-old miner allegedly cuts off genitals at Wassa Kyeikrom

Residents of Wassa Kyeikrom in the Western Region have been left in shock after a 26-year-old miner, identified as Peter Okyere, allegedly cut of his genitals following a confrontation with his landlord.

According to multiple reports on May 8, 2026, the victim entered his landlord's room carrying a metal object and began asking unusual questions about how to make money while complaining about hardships.

Shortly afterwards, he reportedly returned to his own room and inflicted severe injuries on himself.

"A 26-year-old miner, Peter Okyere, has allegedly cut off his penis and testicles at Wassa Kyeikrom in the Western Region after reportedly acting strangely during a confrontation with his landlord.

"According to the landlord, the victim entered his room carrying a metal object and asked unusual questions about how to make money before later mutilating himself", State News reported in a post on X.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at Green Shield Hospital in Sefwi Bekwai under police supervision, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
