The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced a major military exercise dubbed “Exercise Storm Shield 2026”, which will be conducted across parts of the Bono and Upper East Regions from May 10 to May 20, 2026.
According to a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp in Accra, the exercise will involve the Ghana Army in collaboration with the Ghana Navy and the Ghana Air Force.
The operation, described as an internal security and counter-insurgency field training exercise, is aimed at enhancing the operational readiness and rapid-response capabilities of troops to address contemporary security threats.

Residents within the two regions are expected to witness increased military activities during the exercise period.
However, the Ghana Armed Forces has assured the public that there is no cause for alarm and has advised residents to continue with their normal daily activities.
The military further reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity, peace, and security.
