President Mahama honours Lordina as the heart of their family
President John Dramani Mahama has marked this year’s Mother’s Day by celebrating mothers across Ghana and paying tribute to his wife, Lordina Mahama.
In a message shared on his Facebook page on May 10, 2026, the President described the occasion as a moment to recognise and appreciate the unwavering sacrifices, care, and commitment shown by mothers in their families and communities.
“Today is another opportunity for us to celebrate our mothers. Thank you to you all,” he wrote.
President Mahama also reserved special praise for his wife, acknowledging the important role she continues to play within their family.
He described Lordina Mahama as the pillar of strength and emotional backbone of their home.
“To you, Lordina, the kids and grandkids just want to thank you for being the heart and strength of our family. Happy Mother’s Day,” he added.
Mother’s Day, celebrated every May in many parts of the world, is dedicated to honouring mothers and maternal figures for the love, sacrifices, and guidance they provide.
The day often serves as a reminder for families to express gratitude to the women who have shaped their lives through care, support, and dedication.
While the celebration is usually associated with joy and appreciation, it can also evoke deep emotions for others.
For some, the occasion brings back memories of loss, broken relationships, or the absence of a mother figure.
Mother’s Day can therefore stir different emotions, including gratitude, pain, grief, and reflection.
The occasion continues to remind many people of the importance of love, family, and emotional support, while encouraging appreciation for the women who continue to impact lives in meaningful ways.
