The Ghana Association of Chinese Societies has elected a new set of executives to lead the affairs of the Association, with prominent businessman Tang Hong retaining his position as President during a colourful inauguration ceremony held on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

The event brought together members of Ghana’s Chinese business community, representatives of Chinese associations, business leaders and government officials, including Julius Debrah, who represented President John Dramani Mahama.

Tang Hong’s re-election extends his long-standing leadership of one of the most influential Chinese community organisations in Ghana. Over the years, he has become widely recognised for strengthening business and diplomatic relations between Ghana and China while positioning the Association as a key link between Chinese investors, the Chinese Embassy, Ghanaian authorities and local businesses.

Under his leadership, the Association has supported several humanitarian and social initiatives, including donations to the Ghana Police Service and fundraising campaigns for victims affected by conflicts and displacement crises.

As Chairman of the Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tang Hong has consistently encouraged Chinese businesses operating in Ghana to comply with local laws and strengthen partnerships with Ghanaian enterprises.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties with China, describing the relationship as one founded not only on diplomacy and trade but also on friendship and shared progress.

“Meetings like this, gatherings like this, remind us that the relationship between Ghana and China is not just about business or diplomacy, but also about people, friendship, and shared progress,” he stated.
