Renowned Ghanaian evangelist and founder of the Healing Jesus Campaign, Dag Heward-Mills, has paid a courtesy call on Hakainde Hichilema following a massive evangelistic crusade in Lusaka.

The meeting, held at State House in Lusaka on April 22, 2026, was attended by the evangelist’s wife, Adelaide Heward-Mills.

The interaction was broadcast live on the Zambian President’s official Facebook page.

The courtesy call followed a four-day Healing Jesus Crusade held at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka from April 21 to 23, 2026, which attracted tens of thousands of worshippers each night.

The crusade recorded thousands of conversions, alongside testimonies of healing and deliverance, in line with the campaign’s focus on salvation and the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

During the meeting, President Hichilema thanked Evangelist Heward-Mills for selecting Zambia as a destination for the outreach programme.

The Zambian leader attributed the country’s achievements to God’s favour and praised the evangelist for his humanitarian and missionary efforts across Africa.

He also commended the role played by the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and the Council of Churches in Zambia in supporting the event.

Evangelist Heward-Mills, on his part, praised President Hichilema for his openness toward the Christian community and his respect for the church.

He said God would honour the Zambian President for his accommodating leadership style and noted what he described as visible transformations in the country. The evangelist also offered prayers for the President and the nation during the meeting.

The meeting also highlighted the growing people-to-people and diplomatic ties between Ghana and Zambia.

President Hichilema acknowledged greetings brought by Evangelist Heward-Mills from John Dramani Mahama, who recently paid a state visit to Zambia.

The Zambian President also referenced the Ghanaian leader’s traditional fugu attire worn during the visit, a moment that sparked discussions on social media about cultural exchange between the two countries.

Evangelist Heward-Mills noted during his engagements that Zambia has remained an important part of his ministry work over the years.

He recalled previous crusades held in cities including Livingstone, Chingola, Kitwe, Ndola, Chililabombwe, Kabwe and Mufulira.

According to him, earlier evangelistic campaigns in the country, particularly in 2017, made a significant impact through large-scale gospel outreach programmes.
