Head-on collision at Odumasi leaves four dead, several injured

Four people have died following a fatal road accident at Odumasi along the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality.

The accident occurred near the Rider Iron and Steel Company and involved a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with registration number GE 6024-22 and a private vehicle.

According to a report by adomonline.com on May 11, 2026, the Sprinter bus was travelling from Accra to Kumasi while the private car was heading in the opposite direction when one of the drivers allegedly attempted a wrongful overtaking, resulting in a head-on collision.

The impact left four people dead at the spot, while several others sustained serious injuries.

Four burnt beyond recognition in fiery head-on collision

Emergency responders transported the injured victims to the Konongo-Odumasi Government Hospital and the Hope Care Hospital for urgent medical care.

“Several survivors who sustained severe and life-threatening injuries were rushed to the Konongo-Odumasi Government Hospital for emergency treatment,” the report stated.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Yawkwei Steward Morgue for preservation and identification.

Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident
