Nearly four decades after the tragic killing of young Kofi Kyinto, fresh details surrounding his mysterious death have resurfaced.

It may be recalled that in the late 1980s, cases of ritual killings for money became rampant in the country, with one particular name, KG, frequently linked to several of the incidents.

In a recent video making waves on social media and sighted by GhanaWeb on May 11, 2026, an unidentified man recounted how Kofi Kyinto was allegedly killed by his own uncle for money rituals.

According to the narrator, Kofi Kyinto’s uncle, identified as Afi, was desperate to travel abroad but lacked the financial means to do so.

The story continues with the narrator explaining that after Afi heard about a wealthy man known as Kofi Nkrabea, popularly called KG, who was rumoured to be involved in money rituals, he sought his assistance.

Furthering the account, the narrator alleged that KG directed Afi to sacrifice his nephew, Kofi Kyinto, as part of the ritual process.

“Kofi Kyinto’s uncle was called Afi, and he wanted to travel abroad, so someone directed him to KG. That was how he went to KG for help in sacrificing his nephew. So he went to KG in Sefwi Bekwai.

“After the consultation, he was directed to bring the child to a certain town. On the day of the killing, Afi did not allow Kofi Kyinto to attend school. He lured him into the bush under the pretext of going bird hunting.

“When they got into the bush, the people he had arranged to kill the child were already waiting for them. They could not cut off his head immediately, so they beat him to death. After killing Kofi, they gave the head to Afi to send to KG,” he narrated.

The man further explained how Afi was eventually arrested after the incident.

According to him, Afi was supposed to meet KG with the human head, but, out of fear and due to miscommunication, he was apprehended before reaching KG.

“After the killing, the two people who murdered the child gave Afi the head to deliver to KG. He was supposed to meet him at a junction. KG had gone to Accra, while Afi took the head to Bekwai.

“He was drunk while going there and encountered a soldier who was reportedly guarding KG’s residence. When Afi heard that the man was a soldier, he became frightened, dropped the human head, and started running. That was how he was arrested. Afi later mentioned KG’s name, as well as Jomo and Yaw Kwarteng,” he added.

The narrator also recounted how KG, Afi, and the two alleged accomplices, Jomo and Yaw Kwarteng, were reportedly executed by firing squad during the era of former President Jerry John Rawlings.

“After their arrest, they were brought back to Bekwai and executed by firing squad. Afterwards, the soldiers warned residents not to organise funerals for them. JJ Rawlings was the President at the time, and he ordered the firing squad,” he stated.
