Deputy General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has insisted that the relationship between the NDC party and the NDC government hasn’t been the best since they won power.

According to him, the strained relationship between the party and government is not about jobs.

He explains that the relationship between the party and government to ensure that they both succeed together has not been the best.

“The last time I checked, the national chairman said he was doing his thank-you tour. My opinion has always been that we could have done it together, but the national chairman is doing it because everyone is busy doing something else.

As stakeholders, since we won elections, the relationship between the party and the government hasn’t been the best, and it is not about jobs. I am saying the relationship between the party and the government to ensure that we succeed together has not been the best,” he told Channel 1 TV.

He acknowledged that the strained relationship may not be deliberate since the government had a lot to do after taking over power, but to him, the danger is that they are leaving the party behind, and as the officer in charge of operations, I am concerned that we have to go back into conclave and assess what we have done and what we have not done so that we move,” he said.

Mustapha Gbande explained that there are elders of the political party who have decided to be silent and that is not a good thing for the party.

“We have elders of the party and we need to run back to them because they have decided to keep quiet and that is dangerous for every political party. So should want to bring everybody back, sit as a party and government, move concurrently and make sure we succeed together,” he stated.
