The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has taken a swipe at legal practitioner Amanda Clinton following comments she made regarding the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong.

Amanda Clinton, during an appearance on JoyNews on May 13, 2026, while discussing the arrest of the MP in The Netherlands, stated that the reason Ghana’s security agencies were allegedly not informed before the arrest was due to a lack of trust from Interpol and the FBI.

According to Amanda Clinton, if Ghana’s security agencies had been notified, the chances of the MP being arrested would have been minimal.

Reacting to her comments during a discussion on JoyNews, and monitored by GhanaWeb on May 13, 2026, Dafeamekpor rejected the claims, describing them as unnecessary.

According to Dafeamekpor, the lawyer’s remarks amounted to disrespect toward Ghana’s security agencies.

He added that Amanda Clinton should have conducted proper checks before making such comments on live television.

“I believe comments like that do not help the situation. Because, as a colleague lawyer, she should have conducted a little search within the security setup to ascertain whether, in fact, this matter was never brought to the attention of the security agencies and whether nothing was done about it.

“So, if you simply say they acted this way because they do not trust our security agencies, then that is most unacceptable. Comments like that should not be coming from highly regarded individuals whose opinions carry weight in this country,” he said.
