Reports emerging on social media claim that young Nigerian footballer Victor Udoh has sadly passed away while on holiday in Abuja at the age of 21.

According to the reports, the player spent Sunday evening, May 24, 2026, with friends before he was allegedly discovered dead the following morning.

Although the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, early speculation suggests suspected food or alcohol poisoning may have played a role in the tragic incident.

However, authorities and representatives of the player are yet to officially confirm the cause of death.

The heartbreaking news has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans, former teammates, and clubs linked to his football journey in Europe. Former club Southampton FC also reacted to the reports with an emotional statement on social media.

“We are devastated by the tragic passing of former player Victor Udoh at the age of 21. The thoughts of everyone at SaintsFC go out to Victor’s loved ones at this extremely difficult time," the tweet read.

Udoh was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s exciting young attacking prospects because of his pace, dribbling ability, and creativity in the final third. The forward also spent time with Royal Antwerp FC and was viewed as a player with the potential to establish himself at senior level.

Further investigations are expected in the coming days as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his reported passing.
