The programme is designed to address key challenges facing women in entrepreneurship
Women entrepreneurs in Ghana are set to benefit from a new fellowship programme aimed at strengthening business skills, financial literacy, and access to mentorship support.
The initiative, known as the Young African Women Entrepreneurs Fellowship Programme, will focus on providing training, financial literacy education, mentorship and business development support to women entrepreneurs, particularly those at the grassroots level and outside the formal banking system.
The programme is designed to address key challenges facing women in entrepreneurship, including limited access to finance, business networks, mentorship and technical support. It will also equip aspiring and early-stage women entrepreneurs with practical skills and resources to help grow and sustain their businesses.
The initiative is expected to contribute to broader economic growth and community development by supporting women-led enterprises across various sectors.
The Young African Women Congress Network describes itself as a platform for young women of African descent in Africa and the diaspora, focused on leadership, advocacy, training, and economic empowerment. The organisation operates chapters in several countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zambia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
The partnership to implement the programme was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) and the Young African Women Congress Network.
Founder and Executive Chairperson of the Young African Women Congress Network, Daniel Osei Tuffuor, said the fellowship is aimed at addressing barriers that continue to limit women’s participation in entrepreneurship and strengthening their capacity to grow sustainable businesses.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Accra, Managing Director of CBG, Naomi Wolali Kwetey, said the collaboration reflects the bank’s commitment to inclusion and enterprise development, adding that it will help expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs through mentorship and support systems.
