After the Government of Ghana airlifted 300 Ghanaians from South Africa to Ghana on May 27, 2026, there are growing calls for a boycott of South African products and services in Ghana.

Ghanaians, especially through social media, are calling on government not to give audience to any multinational from South Africa in protest of what they are doing to fellow Africans in their country.

A leading voice in these calls has been a vice president for policy think tank IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil.

He has urged the government not to extend the lease of Goldfields, which is a South African company.

In a strong advocacy being pushed on social media, he has urged the people of Ghana to kick against renewing the lease of Goldfields in Tarkwa.

Kofi Bentil’s position has been supported by some leading public figures, including the Chief Executive Officer for the NEIP, Eric Adjei.

He believes it is about time Ghana’s government considers local content, just as the South Africans are calling for.

Managing Editor for mynewsgh.com, Stephen Zoure also added his voice to the ongoing advocacy against South Africa.

His post called on the people to boycott products from South Africa in protest of what they are doing against other African nationals.

A political activist, Kofi Osei has also indicated that he will back any demonstration or advocacy against South Africans in Ghana.
