Benjamin Asare is a goalkeeper of the Black Stars
Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare has insisted he will not allow his current status as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper affect team unity, admitting he would fully support any teammate selected ahead of him.
Speaking from Ghana’s training camp in Wales ahead of the international friendly against Wales, the goalkeeper stressed that competition within the squad remains healthy and that no player should feel guaranteed of a place.
Benjamin Asare has emerged as Ghana’s current number one following a series of impressive performances, but the shot-stopper said he still has a lot to prove.
“I want to achieve bigger things for myself but that doesn’t mean because I’m number one I’ve already achieved it,” he said.

Asare explained that competition within the squad remains healthy and every player understands the importance of unity as the Black Stars prepare for the World Cup.
“Doesn’t mean I’m number one so if I’m dropped I’ll be asking questions because we want what’s best for the team,” he said.
The goalkeeper stressed that players must support one another regardless of selection decisions.
“Once we are united, we support each other and if one is picked ahead of the other we will support him because we want the best for the team,” Asare added.
